  • Children in Need Day - Friday 18th November 2022

    Wed 23 Nov 2022

WOW!  What a successful Children in Need day we have had here at New Park Academy this year.

I am sure all of our pupils enjoyed the hot dogs, cake and drinks as well as playing prize bingo and the tombola stall.

We raised a massive £268.90 - our biggest total so far!

A big thank you and well done to everyone who donated and took part.

  • Support with Cost of Living

    Tue 08 Nov 2022

We know it’s a difficult time for lots of people with increases in food prices and energy bills.  It’s ok to ask for help.  Salford Council's new web pages can help point you in the right direction for support with the cost of living.  Organisations are working together in the Spirit of Salford so that this digital resource becomes a one stop shop for help and support across the city.  Themed around key areas of concern from energy bills to housing, they will be regularly updated. There are also free evening activities from movie to games nights, taking place in Salford's gateway centres and Broughton Hub.  Please click here for more information.

  • Fireworks

    Fri 23 Sep 2022

We have been made aware of anti-social behaviour in Winton Park. A group of young people have been firing fireworks at each other, close to members of the public, children and dogs.

As we are nearing firework season, please talk to your child about the dangers of using fireworks. Fireworks can cause serious eye injuries (including blindness), and burns, which can leave permanent scarring. Someone could even lose one or more fingers if fireworks go off the wrong way.

For more information, please click here for advice from Greater Manchester Fire Service.

  • Chickenpox & Scarlet Fever

    Wed 14 Sep 2022

This year in Salford, there has been an increase in scarlet fever and chickenpox cases.  The number of cases can increase further as children return to school. The concern is the bacteria that causes scarlet fever could complicate other skin infections such as chickenpox.

Please click here for information on symptoms to look out for and simple steps to prevent spreading and catching these infections.

  • Measles Information

    Fri 08 Jul 2022

Unfortunately, we are beginning to see more measles cases and outbreaks nationally.  Measles is highly infectious – the most infectious of all diseases transmitted through the respiratory route. Measles can be severe, particularly in immunosuppressed individuals and young infants. It is also more severe in pregnancy.

The most effective way to control measles is by achieving high uptake of 2 doses of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine.  Over the last 10 years, in Salford, we have seen a steady decline in the uptake of childhood immunisations, including the MMR vaccine.  Please support the increase of all childhood immunisations to help protect children, students and our vulnerable population.

Please click here for more information on measles and vaccinations.

  • Warning Regarding Snapchat's New Feature

    Mon 04 Jul 2022

Snapchat’s newest feature adds an extra layer to their existing Snap Map feature by allowing users to get directions to their friend’s exact location. It pairs with Apple Maps and Google Maps apps, which show how long it would take someone to walk, drive, or use public transport to reach the address. Essentially – with the click of a few buttons, anyone is able to gain access to your workplace, school, or home address and the fastest route to get there.

Please click here to find out more about the risks associated with this new feature and tips on how to keep your child safe.
